Electric Outboard Motors for Canoes and Kayaks
Electric outboard motors can be added to most canoes and kayaks for flat water paddling as a primary means of propulsion or as a backup assistance in case of fatigue whilst out on the water.
Particularly popular for kayak fishing and open canoes, especially square stern Sport canoes or by using a specific canoe motor mount which clamps to the gunwales.
Many locations have restricted the use of petrol outboard engines due to noise and pollution concerns whereas quiet electric motors are usually allowed. (Always check local waterway permissions beforehand)
We recommend both Minn Kota outboard motors and Bixpy electric motors. Both are available with a number of accessories and mounting adapters specific to the type of canoe or kayak that you're fitting the motor to.
