The Old Town Discovery 133 is a versatile open canoe which is ideal for family paddling on fresh water and calm conditions. With the wide beam and hard wearing construction the Discovery 133 is incredibly popular. Ideally suited for use on lakes, lochs, canals, broads, meres, gentle flowing rivers and reservoirs the Old Town Discovery 133 is a great all-rounder, and will allow for short paddling trips, wildlife spotting, fishing and more.

Constructed of Old Town's legendary triple layer plastic, the Discovery 133 is an exceptionally robust canoe which comes fitted with three wood-webbed seats as standard. With the short stature of the Discovery 133, just 13 foot 3 inches, it can be used as either a compact family canoe or indeed as a solo canoe. With the symmetrical hull shape, when using solo the 133 can either be paddled from the middle seat, perfectly positioned on the balance point, or trimmed accordingly (if carrying any additional kit) from the bow seat facing the rear of the boat. The central seat also allows for the Discovery 133 to be rowed from if required, with oar lock slots fitted to the vinyl gunwales (Oar Locks and Oars sold separately).

With a pronounced built-in keel line, at the base of a shallow arch the Discovery 133 will assist in tracking and can help keep the canoe running in a straight line over open water. The moderate rocker aids if the weather turns less friendly preventing small swells from breaking into the canoe.

For those looking for a speedy canoe or something to efficiently cover distance the Discovery 133 is probably not the best suited canoe, with the wide stance and short waterline the 133 has excellent stability but does generate greater drag as a result.
