The Zig Zag Cleat is a popular choice used in kayak fishing anchoring systems, which allows the user to lock off their anchor trolley and anchor line. We recommend installing the cleat beside your kayaks seating area, above the waterline, for easiest access.
Using a 'zig-zagging' technique, you can quickly lock off your anchor trolley cord, once you have shuffled your anchor system into position. Once the anchor has been deployed, you can also lock off the anchor line, using the same 'zig-zagging' motion in the opposite pattern to the trolley cord.
There are a few different options you can use to mount the cleat to your kayak. We recommend bolting the cleat to your kayak, as long as you can access the inside of your kayak to reach the back of the area where you want to mount to. You could also use Marine Trifold Rivets, but they can be tricky to fit using a standard pop-riveter, due to the narrow spaces between the teeth on the cleat. Well Nuts can also be used as an easier option.
